Universal Fire Remote turns your phone into a remote control for Fire TV. It works over your home Wi-Fi, with no infrared, no Bluetooth pairing and no physical remote needed. Lost the remote, or the batteries died? Open the app and keep watching.

WE KEEP ADS OUT OF YOUR WAY

We know how annoying ads can be, so we keep them to a minimum. There are no ads while you use the remote: no pop-ups when you press a button, no video before you can change the channel. You will see a small banner at the bottom of the screen, but never while you type on the keyboard, and now and then a full-screen ad between tasks, such as when you add a TV or leave the remote, never more than once every few minutes. There is no subscription and nothing to unlock: every feature is included, and those few ads are what pay for it.

Universal Fire Remote is made for Fire TV only: Fire TV Stick and other Fire TV streaming devices, and Fire TV smart TVs. It does not control other TV brands.

HOW TO CONNECT YOUR FIRE TV

1. Connect your phone and your Fire TV to the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Open Universal Fire Remote and choose your TV under "On this network".

3. Enter the 4-digit PIN shown on your TV screen.

Done. Your phone is now your Fire TV remote. The remote does not need ADB or developer options.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How can I control my Fire TV without the remote?

Install Universal Fire Remote and follow the three steps above. You can then navigate, play, pause, type and open apps from your phone.

Does it work with a Fire TV Stick?

Yes. It works with Fire TV Stick, other Fire TV streaming devices and Fire TV smart TVs, as long as they are on the same Wi-Fi as your phone.

Does it work with Samsung, LG or other TVs?

No. Despite the name, Universal Fire Remote works only with Fire TV devices and Fire TV smart TVs.

My Fire TV does not appear in the app. What should I do?

Check that the TV is on and that both devices use the same Wi-Fi network. If it still does not appear, find your TV's IP address under Settings > My Fire TV > About > Network, then use "Add by IP address" in the app.

An app I installed myself is missing. How do I find it?

Apps installed from outside the Appstore only show up after a search. On your TV, turn on ADB debugging under Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options, then tap "Find my apps" in the app and allow the request on your TV. You can turn ADB debugging off again afterwards.

Can I type on my Fire TV using my phone keyboard?

Yes. Open the keyboard in the app and your text appears on the TV as you type. You can also paste text, such as a long password.

Can I change the volume?

No. Volume control is not supported. Use your TV's own remote or buttons for volume.

Is my data safe?

The app has no accounts and does not send your data to our servers. Paired TVs are stored securely on your phone, and commands go directly from your phone to your TV. Ads come from Google AdMob (see our privacy policy).
