Virtues and Benefits of Surah ar-Rahman

On the Day of Judgement, Surah ar-Rahman will manifest as a handsome figure with a pleasant fragrance. Allah (S.w.T.) will instruct this figure to identify those who recited it regularly. It will intercede on their behalf, asking for forgiveness, and Allah will pardon those reciters. Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (a.s.) also stated that anyone who dies after reciting this Surah is considered a martyr. Keeping a written copy of Surah ar-Rahman brings protection, removes difficulties, and cures ailments, including eye problems. Reciting it at night ensures angelic protection until morning, and reciting it in the day provides protection until sunset.

Hadith on Surah ar-Rahman

Hadith 1: The Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) once recited Surah ar-Rahman to his companions, but they remained silent. He later recited it to the jinn, who responded enthusiastically. When reaching the verse, “Which of the favors of your Lord will you deny?” the jinn replied, “There is nothing among your bounties that we can deny, all praise belongs to Allah.”

Hadith 2: Abdullah Ibn Mas’ud (Radi Allahu Anhu) reported that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, “Everything has an adornment, and the adornment of the Qur’an is Surah ar-Rahman.”
