OBJECTIVE

The first player to get rid of all their cards wins! Speed is a fast-paced game that is played against a computer opponent.

DEAL

In Speed, each player gets 20 cards. This includes a 5-card hand placed face up, while the remaining 15 cards form the face-down “stock” pile. Two piles of 5 cards, called the “spit” piles, are placed in the center, with one card from each pile placed face up to start the game.

GAME PLAY

Speed is all about quick thinking and faster moves. Both players play simultaneously, racing to discard cards by placing a card that is either one rank higher or lower than the center cards.

The suit or color doesn’t matter in Speed—only the card’s rank counts. For example, a King can be followed by an Ace, and an Ace can be followed by a King.

Each time you play a card onto a center pile, draw a new card from your “stock” pile to keep your hand full. Continue this fast-paced action until all 15 cards from the stock pile are used.

If neither player has a valid move, draw a new card from each “spit” pile and place them face up on the center piles. This gives both players a fresh chance to continue the Speed game!

GAME END

The first player to get rid of all their cards from their hand wins the round!
