Indonesia is one of the largest producers of Used Cooking Oil (UCO) in the world. According to data from GlobalData, in 2020 Indonesia is the second largest UCO producer in the world after China, with a total production of 2.29 million metric tons. Based on a report from Research and Markets, in 2020 Indonesia is also the second largest UCO exporter in the world after the Netherlands, with a total export of 870,000 tonnes. In addition, Indonesia also has great potential in biodiesel production from UCO. According to a report from the Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR), in 2019 Indonesia has a biodiesel production capacity of 1.1 million kiloliters from UCO.
