CovTracer-EN is the official mobile app of the Government of Cyprus for contact tracing based on your phone’s technology. The app aims to support the efforts of the Department of Epidemiology (DoE) of the Ministry of Health, Government of Cyprus to contain the spread of COVID-19 among the Cypriot community. Using the app will give us a better picture of the spread of the virus, plus help to carry out effective and meaningful contact tracing, giving up-to-date excellent health advice to people exposed to the virus via infected citizens they came in touch with.
Specifically, the app uses Bluetooth and the Google-Apple Exposure Notification (GAEN) protocol to make a record of when you are close to other app users. If an app user tests positive for COVID-19, the DoE can ask them for the records on the app. This will help us to contact other people who might have been affected, and give them the advice and help they need.
Fully respecting your data and privacy, the CovTracer-EN app will not:
• publicly identify anyone with COVID-19
• make personal data available to the MoE without your direct consent
• use your data for any reason other than contact tracing
We ask you to be part of this national effort. Use this app for one minute a day to make an important contribution to the fight against coronavirus. Protect yourself, your family, your community and the most vulnerable in society. Encourage everyone you know to download and use the CovTracer-EN app where possible. Our main philosophy is that we can fight COVID-19 collaboratively, by empowering the Cypriot society with tools and technologies they can effectively use, in a fully privacy-preserving way.
The CovTracer-EN (the “Mobile App”) has been developed by the CYENS Centre of Excellence (the "CYENS CoE"), in collaboration with the KIOS Center of Excellence, University of Cyprus (the “KIOS CoE”) as a Join Project assigned by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Cyprus (the “MoH”)and Coordinated by the Cyprus National eHealth Authority with the Deputy Ministry of Research Innovation and Digital Policy of the Republic of Cyprus serving a consultative function.
