Baby Panda's Hurricane Safety

A hurricane is a type of weather which often causes loss of life and damage to property. BabyBus seeks to help every child grow up safe and healthy. That's why we've developed Little Panda’s Weather: Hurricane. We hope that by learning about scientific facts about hurricanes and hurricane safety tips, children will be able to better prepare for this sever weather and keep themselves safe.

The hurricane is very dangerous that produces heavy rainfall, strong storms, and other extreme weather effects, sweeps boats and people out to sea, and even causes water and power outages. To keep safe, children must keep well away from the sea, remain indoors, and stay away from potential sources of danger.

When the hurricane is approaching, children can help their parents with the preparations!

IN THE HOME, children can help their parents:

- Bring in outdoor clothes and flower pots to prevent them from blowing off during the hurricane.

- Lock doors and windows firmly, and affix tape to glass to prevent it from shattering during the hurricane.

- Prepare an emergency kit: blankets, food, flashlights, batteries, towels, and the first aid kit.

OUTDOORS, children can help their parents:

- Pick fruits, cut branches, and reinforce trees to prevent them from being blown down by the hurricane.

- Ensure that the ditch allows water to drain away, which can prevent the storm from waterlogging fields and submerging crops.

- Use bricks and sandbags to reinforce the river bank to prevent flooding.
