About Windows App

Windows App is a remote access client that connects you to Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, and Remote PCs.

Windows App helps when you need to reach a work or school Windows environment from your phone or tablet without carrying a laptop. It gathers cloud PCs and remote resources in one place, so you can open what you need and pick up tasks from anywhere. The app also works in a browser, which is useful on shared devices. With a clear home screen and quick switching, it keeps your focus on work rather than setup using Windows App APK.

Windows App features

One place for all Windows resources

Windows App brings Windows 365 Cloud PCs, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Dev Box, Remote Desktop Services, and remote PCs into a single hub. You can see available resources on the home screen and move between them without changing apps. This layout reduces context switching and keeps access consistent across sessions.

Connect on devices and in a browser

You can use Windows App on your Android phone or tablet, on other supported devices, or in a browser. The browser option is helpful when you cannot install apps or are using a shared device. It lets you sign in and start a session with only a supported web browser, which is helpful for first time access.

Customizable home and account switching

Windows App lets you pin favorites and arrange your resources for faster access. If you use more than one organization, you can switch between multiple work or school accounts from within the app. This makes it simpler to keep personal and work tasks separate while still staying productive.

Display options and device redirection

Windows App supports multiple monitors and offers dynamic resolution and scaling for clear text and visuals. You can redirect webcams, audio, storage, and printers into your remote session when allowed by your organization. Microsoft Teams optimizations help improve call quality and meeting performance in supported environments.

Built for mobile and VR

Windows App is tuned for Android phones and tablets and also works on Chromebooks that run Android apps. It adapts to touch input and different screen sizes for a consistent experience. Support for Meta Quest enables immersive access when you need a large virtual workspace.

Account and connection notes in Windows App

Windows App is designed for organizational use. To reach Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, or Microsoft Dev Box, you must sign in with a Microsoft work or school account from your organization. Personal Microsoft accounts are not supported for sign in within this app. Access to Remote Desktop Services or other resources also depends on what your organization assigns to your account.

Windows App focuses on cloud and enterprise remote desktops rather than general home networks. It does not aim to connect to random PCs on your local network. Remote PC scenarios are available in the app, but web access does not support Remote PC. On Windows, Remote PC is in preview, and organizations that rely on Remote Desktop Services may still need the classic Remote Desktop app for certain tasks.

IT admin guidance for Windows App

Organizations can manage Windows App through Microsoft Intune to configure settings and deploy it to users. Admins can integrate resources with the Start Menu, set up direct launch links, and publish URLs that open specific desktops or apps. Network and proxy configuration guides are available in the official documentation to help align connectivity with corporate policies. These options support smoother rollouts and consistent user experiences across teams.

How to use Windows App on Android

This short guide shows how to sign in and connect to your assigned cloud resources on an Android phone. For best results, use the Windows App latest version before starting a work session. The steps below follow a simple flow from setup to your first connection.

  1. Install Windows App on your Android device and open it. If installing is not possible, open a supported mobile browser and use the Windows App web experience provided by your organization.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft work or school account. If you are unsure which account to use, contact your IT admin for credentials and assigned resources.
  3. After sign in, review the home screen for your Windows 365 Cloud PC, Azure Virtual Desktop workspaces, Dev Box, or Remote Desktop Services resources. If nothing appears, pull to refresh or wait for your organization to assign items.
  4. To keep important items easy to reach, pin your frequently used desktops or apps. You can also organize resources to match your daily tasks and switch accounts if you work with more than one organization.
  5. Select a desktop or app to connect. When prompted, allow permissions for microphone, camera, or storage if required by your session, then adjust display and input settings from the in-session menu as needed.

Start remote access with Windows App

Windows App brings Windows 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Dev Box, Remote Desktop Services, and remote PCs into one client for organized, secure access. To begin using these resources from your Android device, download Windows App and sign in with your work or school account.
