What is a check-digit?

- A check-digit is a form of redundancy check to identify if a number has been tampered with. In the context of tipping, the check-digit is the last digit in your "total" bill which will tell you if the tip charged on top of your bill was actually what you intended it to be.

How do you calculate a check-digit?

- It's easy! The check-digit is the sum of all the digits before it. If the sum is greater than 10, the check-digit is the last digit in that sum.
