Each year, approx. 1.6 million trout molt in the mouths of the Danish streams. Unfortunately, far too many of the vulnerable, small trout end up in the stomach of a cormorant. Project Smoltvagt aims to ensure that more smolts survive the release, are able to grow large and can contribute to better coastal fishing.
Denmark's Sports Fishing Association, Danish Angling, Angling Denmark, Danish Salmon Fund, Funen Salmon and Sea Trout Fyn are project partners in the Smolt Guard project.
The project partners expect to gather 1,000 volunteer smolt guards - and hope that you will be one of them.
