Salmo 116

1 I love the Lord, because he heard me when I made my supplication to him.

2 He inclined his ear to me; I will invoke him all my life.

3 The ropes of death encircled me, the pangs of Sheol came upon me; affliction and sadness overcame me.

4 Then I called on the name of the Lord: Deliver me, Lord!

5 The Lord is merciful and righteous; our God is compassionate.

6 The Lord protects the simple; when I was already without strength, he saved me.

7 Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you!

8 For you have delivered me from death, my eyes from tears and my feet from stumbling,

9 that I might walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

10 I believed, though I said, I am greatly afflicted.

11 Panicking, I said, No one can be trusted.

12 How can I repay the Lord for all his goodness to me?

13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.

14 I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.

15 The Lord sees with grief the death of his faithful ones.

16 Lord, I am your servant, Yes, I am your servant, the son of your handmaid; you freed me from my chains.

17 I will offer you a sacrifice of gratitude and call on the name of the Lord.

18 I will pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people,

19 in the courts of the house of the Lord, in the midst thereof, O Jerusalem! Hallelujah!
