The “Liy Wan” application is designed for experience sampling research with parents/caregivers. As a research tool, its purpose is to capture in-the-moment parenting practices of people of different cultures, as well as to enhance the understanding of micro-processes that unfold during parent-infant interactions.
The mobile application sends out recurring survey questions to track frequency, contextual and momentary fluctuation of dyadic face-to-face contact, body contact, body stimulation, object stimulation, vocalization, and primary care.
Its straightforward and user-friendly interface facilitates self-reports, rolls out observer intrusion, and reactivity bias while ensuring ecological validity in data acquisition.
The "Liy Wan" app permits both online and offline use. Study participants can access questions at all times and settings, with or without any internet connection.
Data encryption: Users' information safety is guaranteed firstly because the app can only be accessed via assigned codes; secondly, data is encrypted and stored in a secure location of the Max Planck Society.
