ChatFort

ChatFort is a private, open-source messenger for secure communication.

Features:

• End-to-end encrypted 1:1 and group messaging

• Voice and video calls

• No phone number, email, or central account required

• Nearby mode for local communication using Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi Direct when internet access is limited

• App lock, screen protection, and emergency wipe tools

• Open-source code, public privacy policy, and in-app terms/community guidelines

Permissions are requested only when needed:

• Camera for QR scanning, photos, and video calls

• Microphone for voice messages and voice/video calls

• Notifications for message and call alerts

• Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Android location permission for the optional Nearby feature

• Full-screen intent for incoming call alerts

• Optional battery optimization exemption for reliable background message delivery

ChatFort does not use ads or analytics. Messages and files stay under user control, and app policies are available both in-app and on the public project pages.
