In the last decade there is a growing concern about chronic diseases and other health problems associated with diet, including obesity, diabetes, etc. In general, the exact measurement of food intake is an open research problem in the fields of diet and health.
Food Scanner is a first-of-a-kind food analyzer offering valuable information such as nutrition facts, allergens and chemicals, about foods using ordinary smartphones. It has been developed by researchers and students at the Data Management Systems Laboratory (DMSL), Department of Computer Science and the KIOS Research Center, both at the University of Cyprus.
