Health Connect helps users who juggle multiple fitness and wellbeing apps keep their information in one secure place. It brings activity, sleep, nutrition, and vitals together on your phone so you can decide how apps work with your data. Because storage is on device by default, your details stay under your control, and you choose what is shared. For quick access, you can open it from Settings or add it to Quick Settings. If you plan to download Health Connect, review how it handles permissions before you start.
Central hub for your health data
Health Connect consolidates health and fitness information from different apps into a single repository on your device. Data stays offline by default, which helps you keep sensitive records in your hands. As you connect more apps over time, the hub becomes a simple place to see where your activity and wellbeing information lives. This setup reduces app switching and gives you a clearer picture of your daily patterns.
Granular permissions and recent access
You set permissions by app and by data type, so each connection only gets what you approve. Health Connect shows clear prompts before an app can read or write anything, and you can review requests in detail. A recent access view highlights which apps used your data and when. If a connection no longer makes sense, you can revoke access in a few taps.
Cross app insights with controlled read and write
Health Connect enables compatible apps to build insights across activity, sleep, nutrition, and vitals using only the data you allow. When you consent, an app can read or write specific categories to keep your records aligned without duplicating entries. With this approach, connected apps can keep data updated quietly in the background, while you remain in control of what moves between them. Over time, this helps reduce gaps and mismatches in your daily tracking.
Broad data type support
Health Connect supports common records such as steps, heart rate, and sleep sessions. It also accommodates workout routes from GPS, mindfulness minutes, and skin temperature when provided by your apps or devices. As more apps adopt Health Connect, a wider range of health data becomes available in one place. This breadth helps you avoid silos and view related information together.
Medical records browsing where available
When supported on your device, Health Connect can display basic medical records built on the FHIR format. You can manage permissions for this section much like other data, and choose which apps can access those records. Availability may vary by region, provider, and app support, and the interface focuses on core medical details for easy review. This positions Health Connect as a single health data layer on Android that respects your choices.
Health Connect works best when paired with apps that support it. The data you see and share depends on which fitness, sleep, nutrition, and wellbeing apps you connect. Some apps can read only certain categories, and others can also write records to the hub, based on your approval. If an app does not integrate with Health Connect, its data will not appear here, and you should continue managing it within that app.
Features and supported data types can vary by device, Android version, and the apps you use. The Health Connect latest version may improve permission controls and expand the range of supported records, including medical records where available. If you notice new categories or prompts, review them carefully and adjust connections to match your preferences. Health Connect by Android continues to focus on on device control and clear user choices.
Set up is quick and centered on permissions you control. If you install the Health Connect APK, open it and connect apps thoughtfully so each one has only the access it needs.
Open Settings, go to Apps, then select Health Connect to launch the hub for the first time.
Add the Health Connect tile to Quick Settings for faster access during daily tracking.
Connect a supported app and review its permission request by data type, then grant only what is necessary.
Check Recent access to see which apps used your data and adjust permissions if something looks unexpected.
Browse categories like activity, sleep, and heart rate, and manage or revoke access in Connections; if available, open Medical Records to review basic entries and control sharing.
Health Connect organizes your health information on device and lets you decide which apps can use it. To keep control while connecting your favorite tools, download Health Connect and configure permissions by data type.
