Create an interactive TV channel to play contents from your smartphone, tablet or Windows PC!

Here comes an app that runs in a set-top box and creates a special "channel" that you can share contents from the phone or PC. Just get Wifi connected, start the CastOn Receiver service and you are ready to go! Send movies stored or found in your smartphone to play on the TV screen, using the touch screen as a remote. Add a Wifi keyboard if you need to input text often.

This APK is a free version that expires after 45 days. The application runs as a background service, with an icon showing in the task bar. You can stop the service by clicking on the icon.

CastOn Receiver is UPNP compatible. It can be controlled by most UPNP/DLNA apps as a usual UPNP renderer capable of streaming video, audio and photo data over a Wifi network. But that's not all - CastOn Receiver does a great deal more if it is driven by its sibling app CastOn TV. It becomes a remote-controlled application launcher that allows one to share things on a big screen from a touch-screen handset. Here are the highlights:

1. Cast web pages - share web contents on TV, play media contents on the web (i.e, youtube, IMDB, youku etc) using the included remote control.

2. Create a shared playlist for video and audio - prepare your own "program" before you sit down and watch.

3. Monitor and control the TV without a full-time connection - CastOn can be put in background to allow you to use other applications such as email. CastOn will still track the TV status when it comes back on as if it was running continuously.

4. Transfer files - in the paid version one can transfer .Zip and .Apk files from the handset to the receiver.

Recommended hardware: 1 GHz ARM A9 core (dual core preferred), .512 MB RAM. Android 2.3+ (Android 4.0+ preferred).

Caution: Video streaming is demanding on the network. Use in uncongested network only. Do not try in an office environment with many devices sharing a Wifi hub.
