Pandurang Sadashiv Sane, better known as Sane Guruji, was born in Palgad in Konkan region. His father was a freedom fighter. He was greatly influenced by his mother’s coaching. He graduated with a degree in Marathi and Sanskrit and earned a Master's degree in Philosophy, later joining the teaching profession at the Pratap High School in Amalner. He was also the hostel warden, and this gave a lot of scope to the teacher in him. He gave lessons in self-reliance and attitude of service through his own examples to the students staying in the hostel.

पांडुरंग सदाशिव साने ( डिसेंबर २४, १८९९ - जुन ११, १९५०) हे भारतीय स्वातंत्र्यसैनिक, समाजवादी विचारवंत, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ते, मराठी साहित्यिक होते. साने गुरुजी यांनी सुमारे ७३ पुस्तके लिहिली होती. यात ‘सती’, ‘भारतीय संस्कृती’, ‘सुंदर पत्रे’, ‘स्वप्न आणि सत्य’, ‘श्यामची पत्रे’, विनोबाजी भावे’, ‘धडपडणारी मुले’ घामाची फुले, मनूबाबा,फुलाचा प्रयोग तसेच त्यांच्या गाजलेल्या ‘श्यामची आई’ या पुस्तकाचा.
