We Do Blocks

We Do Blocks is a block coding app for LEGO® WeDo 2.0 robotics kits. Connect a hub over Bluetooth, snap blocks together, and press Go.

It was built for classrooms after the official WeDo 2.0 app was discontinued, and it does one thing: let children program the models they build.

WHAT IT DOES

• Connects to a LEGO® WeDo 2.0 hub over Bluetooth

• Runs motors — on, off, timed runs, power and direction — and targets two motors separately when both are plugged in

• Sets the hub light to any colour

• Plays sounds through the tablet

• Reads the distance sensor and the tilt sensor

• Starts programs from the hub button, a sensor reading, or a tilt

• Repeat, forever, wait, wait-until, if and if-else blocks

• Several stacks of blocks run at the same time, so one model can do more than one thing at once

BUILT FOR A CLASSROOM

• No login and no accounts — hand a child a tablet and it works

• Fully offline. The app makes no network requests of any kind

• When several hubs are switched on in one room, you pick yours from a list that shows which is closest

• One screen, no projects to manage and no menus to get lost in

• Phones and tablets, iOS and Android

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

• Programs are not saved — closing the app clears the canvas

• Building instructions are not included; use the ones that came with your kit

• Only WeDo 2.0 is supported today

We Do Blocks collects nothing at all. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no network requests.
