Luffy is a fictional character and the main protagonist in the anime and manga series One Piece by Eiichiro Oda. He is the son of the Revolutionary Forces commander Monkey D. Dragon, the famous naval grandson of Monkey D. Garp, the adopted son of the mountain bandit, Curly Dadan, and the foster brother of Portgas D. Ace the "Fire Boxer" and Sabo . The purpose of his life was to become the Pirate King by discovering the legendary treasure that had been abandoned by the previous Pirate King Gol D. Roger.

He believes by being a Pirate King, he will be the most liberated person in the whole world. He ate the fruit of Gomu-Gomu. As the founder and captain of the Straw Hat Pirate Group, he not only became the first to create it, but also became the strongest fighter in his group.
