Please do not download this app unless you either attended our presentation at the ICIS workshop on augmented reality, or are otherwise interested in participating in an academic research project. This app has currently has no specific end-user value other than understanding the capabilities of the mobile platform. It is being distributed completely free.
This app is part of a research project that allows you to transmit your device sensor and location information to a server. The server application can then act as your "virtual assistant" to enable you perform assisted tasks with instructions from your assistant. Because this is a research project, no actual service is provided. This app is to be used only as an informational tool and possibly some entertainment.
Please note that this app does not ask for permission to obtain any private information, nor does it send any private information. The only information transmitted is location and hardware sensor data, but with no other identifying information other than a randomly generated (or chosen) client ID. Also, this app does not run in the background so it will only transmit when you activate the sensor transmission screen.
You can see a sample virtual assistant screen by running this app and then going to http://www.smartrfsolutions.com/vaserver and logging in with the clientid and password that you can find in the settings area.
