The proper sizing of the depth of the U-trap is a factor to ensure that no bad smell will sucked from the condensate system to the Air stream & then to the served area, also it will ensure proper discharge of condensate water from the tray. Incorrectly sized U-trap will spread the bad smell of the condensate/Drainage system & will not discharge condensate during the operation of the HVAC unit, Coil Condensate water will fill the pan and subsequently overflow. The carrying over of condensate water into the air stream & may result to damages of the duct, insulation & other components.
