Questionnaire (quiz) exercizer: you can build and use your own (or third party) questionnaire.

A questionnaire can be made of any number of questions. Each question allows to select between 5 possible answers.

QuizzAir allows two types of quiz: QUESTIONNAIRE and APPRAISAL.

QUESTIONNAIRE MODE

In QUESTIONNAIRE mode, it is possible to define 2 operating modes: TRAINING and EXAM.

In TRAINING mode it is possible to "peek at answer" to discover the right answer and a final review (final score) will list all the questions with score (ok/nok) with the possibility to directly jump to any of the questions.

In EXAM mode "peek at answer" is not available and Final Score will simply report the result (and exit the exam).

In the EXAM mode a timer is fired and user is required to complete the exam in the time limit.

Time limit and minimum % of correct answers is defined in the questionnaire file.

APPRAISAL MODE

In APPRAISAL mode, in addition to questions, it also available a final page with optional comments to be inserted by the user.

A TXT file is then created with all the relevant information for electronic post processing.

INPUT FILE FORMAT

Quiz input files can be in plain text (.TXT) or encoded (.BIN). QuizzAir can encode a .TXT file in a .BIN file for further distribution. Encoded files are not human readable; however encoding mechanism is relatively simple and designed to avoid users from reading the questionnaire before the exercize (you use it at your own risk!).

New quiz can be loaded (imported) at run time and retained in the private QuizzAir area for further selection. Imported quiz can be exported for modification (if in TXT format) or for further distribution.

Quiz file format (template) can be generated by exporting already loaded TXT questionnaires.

In more details, a quiz file is organized as a TXT file where each line represents a quiz (question + 5 answers) except the fist line which contains master data information. Fields in each line are separated by the TAB ASCII character.

File can be created with your favourite spreadsheet program (e.g., Excel) and exported as TXT (TAB separated) file.

FIRST LINE

The first line format is different between QUESTIONNAIRE and APPRAISAL.

For QUESTIONNAIRE, it contains the following fields:

1) "SYNC2" (literal string)

2) "Q" for Questionnaire or "A" for appraisal (letter)

3) Quiz name (string)

3) Allowed mode. To allow training include "T" or "t", to allow exeam, include "E" or "e". If uppercase, quiz list is randomize at each run otherwise the list is presented in the same order in the quiz file.

4) the time limit when in EXAM mode (number, in minutes)

5) the number of questions when in EXAM mode (number). This can be lower than the total number of questions.

6) the minimum percentage to pass the EXAM (number, no "%" must be included).

For APPRAISAL, it contains the following fields:

1) "SYNC2" (literal string)

2) "A" for Appraisal.

3) Appraisal name (string)

QUIZ Section

Any following line contains the question and answers with the following fields:

field1: question number starting from 0

field2: global identification for the question

field3: question text

field4: correct answer number

field5: reference documentation (if any) - free text

field6: answer 1

field7: answer 1

field8: answer 1

field9: answer 1

field10: answer 1

As mentioned, fields are separated by TAB character (you can build the questionnaire file in Excel and then save it as TXT).

OUTPUT

For EXAM mode, a TXT encripted file (certificate) is produced with the same information displayed in the last screen of the Exam. Certificates can be decoded by QuizzAir using the relevant menu option in the initial screen.

For APPRAISAL mode, the original question list and selected answer is generated in a human readable TXT file. The "generic user comment" is added as a last line in the file. The file format is still TAB separated (so it can be improted in Excel or equivalent tool).
