A chatting application for supporting ECO action (e-ICON2017)

PLANECO is a social network service application for people all over the world that are able to use the internet. The Earth is now in a danger of a mass number of environmental issues, for example, global warming, abnormal weather, air pollution, ozone layer depletion and other serious problems that can harm various living creatures. Accordingly, we thought that sharing our thoughts and solutions via social network service (SNS) can deter earth from these problems easier and faster. However, we are also able to share our ideas using other existing SNS applications. We indicated the problem that these SNS applications cannot trigger our desire to stop global issues. As a practical matter, users of these SNS applications are tweeting or posting their daily lives or their special episodes. Therefore, we added a planet-nurturing-simulation game in PLANECO. Comments or other posts can have “Good” points, which you can use it to get items to customize your planet. The items that you can decorate for your planet are all related to ECO, for example, trees, forests, animals, insects and other natural elements. To make it your own planet, we prepared more than 450 items that you can set anywhere in any angle you want. For the SNS chat function, we designed it keeping in mind that everyone can understand and adapt easily. In this talk room, you can post regular comments, your current place using GPS, some stamps that we prepared, image files in your Android and also your own customized planet image. Also using hashtags, users can play while learning about global issues and ECO by answering some quizzes we prepared. We mainly used HTML to program our application, which had made our application able to use on browsers on other smartphones like iPhones and personal computers.

As a summary of our project, our application PLANECO is an SNS application that loads a planet nurturing simulation game system which triggers users’ interest towards ECO and global issues occurring today. We are sure that this application will make people around the world face environmental issues and share ideas to save our planet Earth.

This application is published in e-ICON 2017 International Android Software Programming Contest by high school students. This application is registered according to this contests regulation.
