At the turn of the 11th and 12th centuries, a group of research magicians, in an attempt to speed up travel around the world, carried out tremendous work on the theory of instantaneous movement, which was supposed to literally turn the world upside down. They developed a technomagical device that was supposed to stabilize and maintain the operation of the portal without constant support from magic. But something went wrong. On the other side of the portal was an unfamiliar planet inhabited by unusual creatures - beast people.

Everything developed at breakneck speed - relations with the worlds of beast people were established, new portals were opened, technologies were borrowed, and the center of everything became the world of people, which later received the code “C-N-T-R”.

The overall network, called the “Sponge of Worlds,” due to its amazing transition structure, grew from year to year. Trade, diplomatic relations and tourism developed. However, not everyone was happy about the invasion of strangers into their way of life.

For many years, periods of calm and active fighting alternated. Then the Alliance of Worlds decided to create the “Bureau of Interworld Protection”. This organization was supposed to protect order among universes connected to each other and control the portal system.

The Bureau gathered the best fighters of the Alliance, and slowly but surely they drove out the rebels, took control of the portal system and ended the war, which lasted almost two centuries. The worlds of the Alliance were restored through joint efforts, the Bureau changed its structure and composition. As a result, two organizations appeared: the Bureau of Interworld Control and the Bureau of Interworld Order. The Bureau of Interworld Control began to carry out the function of interworld border guards, and the Bureau of Interworld Order was created in order to prevent new events that could become the reason for the outbreak of a new war.

But at the end of the 19th century, a wave of terror swept through the worlds of the Alliance, and now the Bureau again becomes involved in events that could lead to the collapse of the worlds.
