The Liferay events app allows you to keep up with the latest and greatest activities at Liferay's worldwide conferences and other events. Built on the Liferay Platform, use this powerful tool to plan which sessions you'd like to attend ahead of time, read up on conference presenters and the cool things they've done in the industry, and acquire other attendee contact information as you network. This app will also help you explore the city, from the best places to shop to the finest dining each event venue has to offer.
Browse session agendas, make new contacts by scanning name badges, find directions to the latest community meet up or the next session with the maps and activities areas, check in on social networks with the tap of a button, upload pics during the event to the event photo stream, or find information about event sponsors to quickly find out which other companies are attending.
Check the app often for new updates - give your Android device a shake - it'll refresh event data!
This app requires the use of several Android features, explained below:
The Liferay Events app has features for saving attendee contact information to your device's contacts list. Contact items are created only, and your personal contacts are never read, modified, or deleted. Android requires the use of the READ_CONTACTS permission in order to write a new contact, which is why this app requests the use of both READ and WRITE permissions.
The Liferay Events app has the ability to upload pictures from your device, and the ability to save others' pictures to your device. The app will never modify or delete a picture from your device.
The Liferay Events app downloads event data over the network for use within the app, requiring the above permissions to access the network. If your device is disconnected from the network, cached data will be used instead (but may be out of date). The app will periodically try to update itself through the network. The app also has the ability to rate sessions, and stores rating information (with no identifying information) on a remote server when a rating is made.
The Liferay Events app supports Liferay's worldwide events. Within the app, you can ask it to automatically choose the closest event based on your current location, by using your device's location sensors using the above permissions. The app also uses Google's Maps API V2, requiring additional permissions like READ_GSERVICES and MAPS_RECEIVE.
This app can respond to iBeacons placed throughout select Liferay event venues. In order to be able to see these beacons, the app must access the Bluetooth hardware of your device, and therefore needs this permission. To turn this feature off, simply turn Bluetooth off or click 'Mute' in the app.
