Two high school students, Marinette and Adrien, were chosen to be Paris's superheroes: Ladybug and Cat Noir. They each have Miraculous, a gem associated with supernatural beings (Kwamis) that gives them strength. Their mission is to keep Hawk Moth - who wants to steal their Miraculouses - from causing chaos in the city by creating an increasingly dangerous supervillain - all while living their high school life and keeping their identity confidential. At school, Marinette liked Adrien but could not tell her, so she acted awkwardly whenever she was there. As a hero, Cat Noir likes Ladybug, but her ego interferes with her: Marinette prefers Adrien! Throughout the school year and their adventures, Ladybug finds many excellent qualities at Cat Noir while Marinette grows closer to Adrien, trying hard to overcome her embarrassment.
