WHEN TO RUN A TEST

Video buffering, calls freezing, or games lagging even when your download speed "looks fine" — that is when ping and jitter matter more than megabits. Test before and after moving your router, or to check you are getting the speed you pay for.

A NOTE ON DATA USE

A speed test transfers real data in order to measure real speed. On a fast connection a full test can use several hundred megabytes, so keep that in mind on a limited mobile plan.
