* What is the Customized Academic Achievement Self-Assessment?
⦁ The Customized Academic Achievement Self-Assessment is a new computer-based assessment designed to assess student growth and provide customized information. Unlike the existing National Achievement Assessment, which is administered to a limited number of students, this assessment system allows schools to participate voluntarily at any time during the assessment schedule and receive prompt feedback on student achievement.
* Purpose of Assessment
⦁ The system aims to support the holistic growth of individual students by providing assessment results not only on cognitive assessment results, such as subject-specific achievement levels, but also on non-cognitive characteristics, such as social and emotional competencies.
* Subjects and Scope of Assessment
⦁ Subjects: Elementary and middle schools provide achievement assessment tools for five subjects (Korean, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, and Science), while high schools provide assessment tools for three subjects (Korean, Mathematics, and English).
⦁ Assessment Time: Considering school and class time, the assessment tools are designed to last 40 minutes for elementary schools, 45 minutes for middle schools, and 50 minutes for high schools.
⦁ Number of Questions: Each test consists of 20-26 questions, taking into account the characteristics of each school level and subject.
⦁ Assessment Scope and Administration Period
- Assessment Scope: Covers the entire previous school year
- Administration Period: Mid-February to late April
* Assessment Results Provision and Utilization
⦁ Individual student assessment results can be viewed on the self-assessment website after the assessment. Customized, detailed information is provided for each student's optional assessments.
⦁ Self-assessment is administered from mid-February to April, when the new semester begins, so the results can be used to assess academic achievement for the previous school year.
* Characteristics of Computer-Based Assessments
⦁ Computer-based assessments can assess achievement standards and subject competencies that are difficult to measure with traditional paper-based assessments by more realistically reproducing real-life problems and their surrounding environments.
- Items can include video or audio materials, or materials that require students to manipulate tools and simulate experiments. - It allows for the implementation of diverse contexts that incorporate problem situations, making it ideal for assessing competencies emphasized in the curriculum.
⦁ The use of multimedia materials and interactive features can increase student participation in assessments.
- Students engage with the assessment process and are motivated to participate actively as they solve problems involving videos, animations, and student-controlled simulations.
⦁ Computer-based assessments, automated scoring, and data storage and management significantly increase the efficiency of assessments.
- Compared to paper-based assessments, these assessments save time and money on printing, distribution, and scoring. They also minimize errors that can occur during processes such as scanning and entering answers.
- Automated scoring technology allows for quick online access to assessment results.
* Customized Academic Achievement Self-Assessment Implementation and Participation Methods
⦁ Self-assessments are administered annually from mid-February to April.
⦁ Schools or classes can apply, freely selecting the subjects they participate in and the areas of the questionnaire related to affective characteristics. ⦁ Schools wishing to participate in the assessment must select a day during the assessment period, taking into account their academic schedule, and apply for the assessment at least two weeks prior to the assessment date. (One application is allowed.)
⦁ Students will participate in class units under the guidance of their teachers at school and can participate in the assessment using computers, laptops, tablets, etc.
