Learn about the basic knowledge of social and cultural values

In simple terms ISBD is knowledge that is expected to provide basic knowledge and general understanding of the concepts developed to examine human and cultural problems. The term IBD was developed for the first time in Indonesia as a substitute for the basic humanitiesm term derived from the English term "the Humanities". The term humanities itself comes from the Latin humnus which is truly human, cultured and refined. By studying th humanities one is supposed to be able to become more human, more cultured and more refined. By studying the humanities one is supposed to be able to become more human, more cultured and more refined. Thus it can be said that the humanities are related to human values ​​as homo humanus or cultured humans. In order for human beings to become human beings, they must learn science, namely the humanities besides not leaving their other responsibilities as human beings themselves.

To find out that basic cultural sciences including cultural knowledge groups first need to know the grouping of knowledge. Prof. Dr. Harsya Bactiar stated that science and knowledge are grouped into three major groups, namely:

· Natural sciences. Natural sciences aim to find out the regularities found in the universe. To study this, the scientific method is used. The trick is to determine the applicable law regarding the regularities, then an analysis is made to determine a quality. The results of this analysis are then generalized. With this base then the prediction was made. The results of the research 100 5 are correct and 100 5 are wrong

· Social sciences. social sciences aim to examine the order-order that is contained in the relationship between humans. To study this, the scientific method is used as a loan from the natural sciences. But the results of the study are not true, only close to the truth. The reason is that order in human relations cannot change from moment to moment.

· Cultural knowledge (the humanities) aims to understand and search for the meaning of human facts. To study this, a method of disclosing events and facts that are unique is used, then given meaning.

Cultural knowledge (the humanities) is limited as knowledge that includes art and philosophy (disilpin). Even this expertise can be further divided into various other skills, such as dance, fine art, music, etc. While Basic Humanities is an effort that is expected to provide basic knowledge and general understanding of concepts developed to examine human and cultural problems. In other words, IBD uses insights originating from various fields of cultural knowledge to develop insight into the thinking and sensitivity of students in examining issues of human and cultural problems.
