ictus-cuidarApp is a mobile application created to be used in the research project “Impact of a Smartphone application on the quality of life of informal caregivers of stroke patients”. The University of the Balearic Islands, the Fundació BIT - Illes Balears Innovació Tecnològica and the Servei de Salut de les Illes Balears participate in this project.

The application has been designed to allow quick and easy communication between the patients' caregivers and their supervisors. As a communication tool, it has two functions:

Chat: on the one hand, it allows caregivers to communicate with their supervisor, thus making it easier for the caregiver to receive immediate attention in the face of a possible situation that they do not know how to deal with. While on the other, it allows supervisors, in addition to communicating with the caregivers under their charge, to initiate conversations with other supervisors in case internal coordination and/or communication is necessary.

Forum: Establishes a 'lax' communication tool in which users can open and comment on topics they consider to be of common interest. Although the impact of a stroke can be very different from one person to another, it is possible that many of the patients require similar care. Having some topics in which explanations and/or user experiences are shown can be a source of information and reassurance for caregivers, as well as a way of making queries that do not require immediate attention.

In addition to the communication functionalities, the application has a frequently asked questions section expressly designed by the project's clinical team for caregivers. In this section you can find resources and information about stroke, societies and associations, aids or multimedia resources, among others.
