High Brightness Mode helps when strong sunlight washes out your screen and makes text hard to read. It can enable a hardware high brightness setting on many AMOLED phones so the display exceeds the usual maximum. If your model lacks that setting, it still pushes brightness to the system limit for better visibility outside. Some devices need root for the hardware boost, while others work without root. To begin, install the High Brightness Mode APK on a compatible device.
Hardware boost beyond max
High Brightness Mode can trigger the hidden hardware high brightness mode on supported AMOLED devices. On compatible phones the screen may appear up to 20% brighter than the highest control in system settings. The app can keep this state across screen off and on, and it can persist through a reboot if enabled.
Flexible ways to turn it on
Root and device support
Behavior varies by brand and model. Many Samsung phones support HBM without root, and rooted units can reach a higher level. OnePlus models require root for HBM. Selected Motorola and Google devices need root, and some Pixel phones also need a compatible custom kernel. If your phone has no HBM hardware, the app sets brightness to the maximum allowed by the system.
Automation and smart interaction
For automation, Tasker can send intents such as flar2.hbmwidget.TOGGLE_HBM, flar2.hbmwidget.HBM_ON and flar2.hbmwidget.HBM_OFF. If you use system auto brightness on Samsung or OnePlus, the optional setting to disable auto brightness while HBM is active helps prevent the system from turning it off, yet keeps auto brightness available the rest of the time.
High Brightness Mode offers a straightforward way to improve visibility in sun on compatible devices. Review your device support and root needs, then download High Brightness Mode to try the activation options that fit your routine. For best results outside, consider enabling auto mode with a threshold that matches your surroundings.
