FFmpegRuntime is an FFmpeg Android app and terminal: convert video, compress files, extract audio, trim clips, and run FFmpeg commands offline on your device. Convert video to MP4, transcode between formats, extract MP3 audio, compress video to share, trim clips, and probe any file.

VIDEO CONVERTER, AUDIO EXTRACTOR AND MORE:

Convert video between MP4, MKV, WebM, MOV and more with real FFmpeg commands. Video to MP3 and audio converter: extract soundtracks, change bitrate, resample. Compress video to a target size or batch-compress a folder, choosing codecs like H.264, HEVC, AV1 or VP9; trim and cut clips, merge and remux without re-encoding. Hardware-accelerated decoding and encoding via Android MediaCodec for H.264, HEVC, VP8, VP9, AV1 and more. Make GIFs and thumbnails, extract frames, turn numbered image sequences (frame_%04d.png) into video, and read metadata and streams with ffprobe. A built-in LGPL FFmpeg runtime works out of the box, including dav1d AV1 decoding.

A REAL TERMINAL, NOT A PRESET APP:

Type any FFmpeg or ffprobe command and tap Run full power, no locked presets. Full-colour FFmpeg logs with per-level highlighting. Tap a finished run to restore its complete output. Copy output, clear the log, and reuse anything from your command history.

BATCH LOOPS CONVERT WHOLE FOLDERS AT ONCE:

Batch convert with one command: for f in *.mp4; ffmpeg -i "$f" "${f%.*}_out.mp4"; done

Multi-line loops and patterns like *.{mp4,mkv} are supported. Files run one by one with N-of-M progress; cancel any time. A mistake shows the error plus a corrected example right in the terminal.

SWAPPABLE RUNTIMES ADD THE CODECS YOU NEED:

The app ships with a built-in FFmpeg that is ready immediately. Need a codec the built-in build does not have? A "runtime" is simply an FFmpeg build: import your own as a .zip and activate it in seconds. Keep as many runtimes as you like each lists its FFmpeg version, license, build type (Minimal/GPL/Full), and architecture. Tap any runtime to switch; the active one is marked with a green header. Build your own from the public builder repository linked inside the app, including redistributable GPL builds for GPL codecs.

YOUR FILES, YOUR DEVICE:

Pick photos, videos, audio and documents, or grant access to whole folders. Browse your workspace, copy paths straight into the terminal, and share results with the Android share sheet. Everything is processed locally. The app never uploads your files.

Analytics contains only sanitized command references tool and option names, codec/container names, file-extension categories never your files, file names, paths, URLs, filter text or option values.
