Our dedication to outdoor life starts on the ground. From the beginning, Eastern Mountain Sports has been a vital resource for climbers, mountaineers, adventurers and all those who love the outdoors. Make no mistake, we’ve been doing it longer and we are the best at what we do.

The Eastern Mountain Sports Climbing School was started in Boston in 1968 and is the oldest and largest climbing school in the eastern U.S.. The Climbing School is fully accredited through the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) and operates programs in NH, NY, MA and CT. Along with the Climbing School, Eastern Mountain Sports operates a paddle program which offers instruction and tours in both kayaking and paddleboarding. Paddle programs are available at select locations in RI, MA and NY. Since the inception of the first School, the mission has been to provide the best outdoor experience possible through professionally trained guides.
