DRIVE MODE

Get the most current and relevant North Carolina traffic information on your smart phone, fine-tuned to a specific radius, or even a specific route you are traveling.

You can set a route from both the Drive Mode main screen, or in the settings section. In settings, you can also simply adjust the radius and timing of alerts if you may not know your specific route but still want proximity-alerts.

When there is an incident nearby, The app broadcasts an advisory. There is nothing to read, click, or scroll through. Just leave your phone in the center console or on the seat beside you and focus your attention on the road.

If you allow phone call recognition permissions, when you place/receive a phone call while a travel alert is playing and do not have a plan that allows simultaneous data and voice, the alert will pause, and will resume playing when the call has ended. You can elect (in the app settings) to permit the app to continue playing (or play new advisories) while on a call. This option is disabled by default and will initially pause when calls arrive unless you specifically enable it.

CAMERAS

View the full suite of cameras available on roadways you are interested in. You can see near real-time conditions for all operational cameras at any time.

SNOW/ICE/INCIDENTS

You are still able to quickly access the DriveNC map for all those times when you are not operating a vehicle. We include quick access to the incident maps, snow/ice events, and incident listings - all of which will center on your location (if access was permitted to the app).

YOUR DATA AND PRIVACY

You don’t need to register to use the app. The app operates anonymously. We don’t receive/record any identifying information about you or your phone. This provides us the ideal balance of providing you with relevant information, by not compromising your personal information.

The application is based on Information Logistics’ patent-pending Geotalker Platform which is a queue-driven streaming technology platform used in combination with your phone's built-in GPS.

IMPORTANT – This application is intended to be launched while the user is not operating a motor vehicle. Users should not use their mobile device while driving. The North Carolina DOT is not responsible for any personal injury, property damage, legal sanction, traffic violation, or any circumstances surrounding the use and/or misuse of this application or mobile device.
