About Brave

Brave is a private Android browser that blocks ads and trackers by default.

Brave helps when you want pages to load quickly without pop ups and tracking. It focuses on privacy from the first run, so common annoyances are handled before you start browsing. It is built on open source Chromium and works without extra add ons, which keeps the interface familiar and simple to use. You can use the integrated search, try the assistant in the browser, and enable optional protection for all apps if needed. If you prefer direct installs, the Brave APK is also available.

Brave features

Shields on by default

Brave applies Shields the moment you start using it, so protection is not something you need to set up later. It blocks third party ads and trackers, stops many cookie consent pop ups, and reduces fingerprinting. Connections upgrade to HTTPS when possible, tracking codes are removed from URLs, and Global Privacy Control is sent by default. After a Brave Browser download, these protections work out of the box, with no extensions required.

Faster pages and lower data use

With fewer trackers and scripts to load, pages open quickly and feel lighter. This approach also uses less data and can help save battery during long sessions. Video sites, including YouTube, appear cleaner because ad elements are blocked, which means fewer interruptions while you browse.

Leo assistant in the browser

Brave includes Leo, which you can use to ask questions, summarize a page, or translate text without leaving the tab. Everything happens inside the browser, so the workflow stays simple. Chats are not recorded for model training, which aligns with the broader privacy approach of the Brave app.

Private search you control

Brave Search runs on its own index, so results do not rely on large search providers. It offers AI assisted answers without profiling, and you can set it as the default in a few taps. This makes the Brave Private Web Browser a single place to search and browse with consistent privacy settings.

Optional Firewall and VPN, easy setup and sync

When you want protection beyond the browser, Brave offers an optional device wide Firewall and VPN that shields traffic in every app. You can turn it on from inside settings, making setup straightforward for users who prefer a single control point. Beyond this, you can import bookmarks quickly, sync across devices, open private tabs, use script and pop up blockers, and manage site controls per page. If needed, the Brave VPN option and these tools help you shape the experience to your needs.

How to use Brave on Android

Getting started is quick once you download Brave. The layout is familiar, and core protections are ready on first run. Use the steps below to begin browsing with fewer interruptions.

  1. Open Brave and set it as your default browser when prompted. Choose your preferred default search engine, or select Brave Search to keep results private.

  2. Import your bookmarks and favorites from another browser to keep your usual sites close. You can do this in settings with a few taps.

  3. Look for the Shields icon in the address bar to review site level controls. Adjust ad blocking, cookie pop up blocking, scripts, or pop ups if a page needs different settings.

  4. Use private tabs when you do not want browsing activity saved locally. Access Leo from the toolbar to summarize a long page or translate text in place.

  5. If you want protection for all apps, open the menu, select Firewall and VPN, then follow the prompts to turn it on. You can also set Brave Search as default in settings for consistent private results.

Start browsing with Brave

Brave focuses on private browsing with Shields, independent search, Leo in the browser, and an optional VPN. To try these tools on your phone, install the Brave latest version and begin browsing with fewer distractions.
