How to Take Care of a Lost KTP

Identity Card (KTP) is the official identity card of Indonesian residents. KTP circulating in the community has been in the form of electronic KTP (e-KTP) since 2011. As an identity card for the identity of Indonesian citizens, e-KTP is now based on Population Identification Number (NIK) - which contains security codes and electronic records as a means of verification and validation population data.

The NIK stated on the e-KTP becomes the basis of one's identity in the issuance of various other important documents such as a Driving License (SIM), Passport, Taxpayer Identification Number (NPWP), banking management, and other important documents.

Having an e-KTP is mandatory for all Indonesian residents who are 17 years old, already or ever married. Since 2013, e-KTP is valid nationally and for life. This means that your e-KTP does not need to be extended even though the active period or the validity period has ended.
