Allergy Food Alert helps you shop with food allergies or intolerances in mind. Scan a barcode to load Open Food Facts data, or photograph an ingredient list on the pack to read the text on your device and check it against your personal allergen profile—including severity and alerts you choose.
Features
• Barcode scanning — Use the camera to load product data from Open Food Facts.
• Ingredient photos — Capture a clear photo of the ingredient list on the packaging; on-device text recognition (Google ML Kit) extracts the text, which is then checked with the same keyword logic as ingredient text from the database. Recognition works best with Latin script; other scripts may not read reliably—always verify the physical label.
• Personal allergen profile — Pick allergens to track and set severity (mild to critical), with alerts where you need them.
• Clear safety signals — See whether a product is high risk, needs caution, or shows no strong match for your profile, using declared allergens, traces, and ingredient text when available.
• Ingredients & allergen text — View declared allergens, “may contain” / traces, and ingredient lists from the database.
• On-device translation — Choose how to show ingredients: match your device language with automatic translation (Google ML Kit on device), or show the original text from Open Food Facts.
• Saved scans — Save products with custom names; open, review, or delete them later.
• Settings — Update your allergen profile and ingredient language anytime.
• Contribute — Jump to Open Food Facts to improve data (photos, structured allergens, details).
Important — Allergy Food Alert relies on open community data and on-device recognition; neither is guaranteed complete or accurate. Photo and text recognition can misread words or miss lines. It is not medical or legal advice. Manufacturers can change recipes before databases update. Always read the physical product label before you buy or eat—especially if your allergy is severe.
