Football or soccer is the world’s most popular sport in numbers of participants and spectators. According to Football governing body, the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the turn of the 21st century there were approximately 250 million football players and over 1.3 billion people "interested" in football, in 2010 a combined television audience of more than 26 billion watched football’s premier tournament, the quadrennial month-long World Cup finals.
Football sport is simple in its principal rules and essential equipment, the sport can be played almost anywhere, from official football playing fields to streets, school playgrounds, parks, or beaches. Use of the feet and the legs to control and pass the ball is the most basic skill in football.
As the football moved into the 21st century, FIFA came under pressure to respond to some of the major consequences of globalization for international football. During the corrupt tenure of Switzerland’s Sepp Blatter as president from 1998 to 2015, the political bargaining and wrangling among world football’s officials gained greater media and public attention. Direct conflicts of interest among football’s various groups have also arisen: players, television networks, competition sponsors, clubs, national bodies, continental associations, and FIFA all have divergent views regarding the staging of football tournaments and the distribution of football’s income.
Football, also called association football or soccer, a game in which two teams of 11 players. One of the players is considered a goalkeeper and their role are most important, try and stop the other team from kicking the ball into his goal. The goalkeeper is the only player who may handle the ball in the penalty area and also can touch the ball with his/her hands.
The other ten field players objective is to score by putting the ball into their opponent's goal while trying to avoid conceding goals. They do this by dribbling, passing, and eventually shooting the ball. Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, Robert Lewandowski, and Neymar are the most famous football players in the world. The field players can use any part of their body except their hands or arms.
The duration of the game is 90 minutes, with a change of ends and an interval of not more than 15 minutes after 45 minutes. The referee may make allowance for time lost in each half. Once the game is over, the team that scores the most goals (the number of times the ball goes in the goal) is declared the winner. In the case of a draw, and depending on the rules of the competition, a result may be reached by extra time (of 30 minutes duration) or a penalty shoot-out.
