Abathor is a 2D action platformer game that combines side-scrolling combat, dangerous stages, and local cooperative play.

Abathor places you in a fallen Atlantis where the gods have brought punishment upon the continent. Four heroes must travel through hostile lands and face the Gates of Abathor before the world is lost. The setting draws on ideas connected to Plato’s writings and Athanasius’ map, giving the adventure a mythic background.

Abathor features

Fight through a doomed Atlantis

Abathor sends you across an Atlantis filled with demons, undead creatures, flying beasts, crawling enemies, and primordial gods. Each area supports fast side-scrolling battles where enemies can attack from different directions. As the journey continues, the heroes work to shut the Gates of Abathor and stop the forces spreading across the continent.

Face stages with traps and bosses

You progress through more than 50 stages that become harder over time. Abathor mixes enemy encounters with traps, hazards, deep abyssal sections, and paths that require careful jumps. Powerful bosses appear at the end of major challenges, so players need to watch attack patterns while avoiding the dangers around them.

Play alone or with local players

Abathor can be played solo or in local co op with up to four players. Players can help each other clear enemies, reach difficult areas, and stay alive during boss fights. At the same time, everyone can compete to claim treasures and spoils, creating a shared run where cooperation and rivalry happen together.

Collect treasures for divine favor

You can gather treasures while moving through the stages and offer them to the gods. These offerings grant divine favor and add roguelite-inspired progression to each adventure. This system gives players a reason to search dangerous areas instead of moving directly toward the next exit.

Retro visuals and a large soundtrack

Abathor uses detailed pixel art and visual ideas associated with retro 16-bit action games. Its combat and level design take inspiration from games such as Golden Axe, Rastan, Castlevania IV, arcade beat ’em ups, and metroidvania titles. The game also includes more than 40 music tracks that accompany exploration, combat, and boss encounters.

Who Abathor may suit

Abathor is aimed at players who enjoy difficult action platformers with arcade-style combat. The stage count, hazards, and boss battles mean that players should expect repeated attempts in tougher sections. Local co op is useful for groups playing in the same place, while solo play lets one player take on the same Atlantis campaign independently.

The game uses a retro 16-bit look rather than modern realistic graphics. Its story focuses on divine punishment, four heroes, demons, and the collapse of Atlantis. Players looking for a game influenced by classic hack and slash adventures may find its visual style and combat structure familiar.

How to play Abathor

Abathor starts with a journey through a dangerous version of Atlantis, where each stage brings enemies and environmental threats. Before you download Abathor, note that the game focuses on action, platforming, treasure collection, and repeated challenges rather than a relaxed pace.

  1. Open the game and begin a new adventure, then choose whether to play alone or set up a local co op session.

  2. Guide your hero through the current stage, watching for enemies, traps, gaps, and other hazards in the environment.

  3. Defeat monsters and demons as you advance, while paying attention to attacks that can come from the ground or air.

  4. Collect treasures found during the run and offer them to the gods to receive divine favor for the adventure.

  5. Continue through the stages, cooperate with other local players when available, and prepare for the stronger enemies and final bosses ahead.
