Set up a tiny background program on their computer and every time you need to get their attention just open the Yo! app on your phone and ping them a message. Their computer will speak your message even if they're in the middle of a game or listening to music.

This app only works within the bounds of your home network between your phone and a computer. It doesn't relay any information to any other computer system beyond the bounds of your home network, so it's nice and safe.
