This app collects no data and is free and has no ads. This app is for kids learning addition in an entirely new visual way, where they see many pairs of numbers that add to the same sum . It is also for parents and teachers who want a fun visual way on a number wheel to explore addition patterns with kids and see a big picture of number patterns.
I discovered that addition pairs that add up to the same number create parallel lines on a number wheel. Kids love starting with any two numbers (one-digit) and then taking away one from the smaller number and adding it to the bigger number. ZERO is the HERO. When you reach 0 (example 4+3, then 5+2, then 6+1, then 7+0, fireworks happen because the line from 0 points to the answer of 7 for ALL the pairs kids have created to get to 0. If the larger number reaches 10 (8-9-10) before the smaller number reaches 0, then the answer is also obvious (8+7, then 9+6, then 10+5 equals 15).
Kids can also earn badges by finding all the pairs on the wheel that add up to a number. They can earn each badge for 1-20 as many times as they like.
Tips:
1) To double a number, just touch it twice, then touch the next larger and smaller number, and continue to 0 or 10 for the answer.
2) Kids can jump in addition: they can start at 7+2 and skip 8+1 to 9+0 and see all add to 9 and watch the fireworks.
3) Badges show up after a few addition solutions.
4) Badges earned include one-digit numbers on the wheel. 15 Badge includes 7+8, 9+6, and 10+5 on the wheel, but of course there are more. Have a math talk with kids about ones-digits, include that all the pairs of numbers that add to 5 can also add to 15 if they put a ten in front of any one of them (0+15, 1+14, 11+4, 12+3, 13+2). Both 5s and 15s create vertical lines. The same is true for all badges 11-20 (20 includes 10 extra pairs, all the pairs that add to 10 with a ten in front of each.
5) The angle of the lines show what they add to. 10s are horizontal(side to side), 5/15s are vertical (up and down). All other sums are within 2 of them rotating around clockwise.
6) When kids are ready for skip counting and multiplication, they can use the Wheel Math Wheel Fun app, which is also free and collects no data and has no ads.
Learn addition in a fun way. Learn more, sum, total, all, with positive attitude. Subtract and Takeaway also covered along with minus on the next app. Also Combine, total, alltogether.
