Pinpoint

A video and photo tagging app that allows you to find your memories more easily.

Pinpoint lets you set tags at specific frames within a video. Then, you can search for the tag later and the video will open at that moment. Photos can be tagged and searched for as well!

This app was created by Ramya Rao, Maggie Davis, and Kemley Nieva.

HOW TO USE THE APP:

Click the upload button on the home screen. You can upload pictures and videos from Gallery, record videos or take photos through the app, or upload your Facebook videos.

If you decide to upload a video, you will be taken to a screen where you can add tags within the video. To add a tag, skip to the desired frame of the video, and type the name of the tag into the input box at the bottom of the screen. Then press the “+” and a tag will be added to that moment. You can also select a tag by clicking on it, and press the trash can icon to delete it.

Through image recognition, Pinpoint can give the user suggested tags based on the objects and landscapes in the frame. To use this feature, skip to the frame you want, and click on “GET SUGGESTED TAGS”. Click on one of the suggested tags to add it to that frame.

Next, you will be taken to the information screen. Input the name of the video, location, and date. You can also input categories, which are similar to tags, but for the overall video. Separate categories by commas when entering them.

If you upload a picture, you will just be taken to the information screen. The only tags you can add for a photo are the general categories.

Now, press “DONE” and you will be taken to the feed. You can click on a picture or video to see it in full screen. From this viewing screen you can swipe left to be taken back to edit the information you originally entered for that media.

On the viewing screen for videos, you can click on the text names of the tags for that video to jump to that moment. You can also click on the tags on the video seekbar to find out the tag name for that specific frame.

To search for a tag or category, just press the search icon at the top of the screen. Input the tag name you are searching for, and your results will populate the feed. Click on a video, and it will open at the time of the tag you searched for.
