Produced in 1995, the translation team was composed of members of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. Their objective was to create a "natural equivalent translation," consciously combining scholarly fidelity with natural English. The grammar is simplified; the style is informal; and sentences are shorter and less complicated than other versions.
