There are so many ways to decorate your Christmas tree that aren't expensive. You can find plenty of lights and other decorations for your entire home in the dollar store. Since dollar stores offer items that have come from other retail stores, you can buy decorations that look nice and save you a lot of money.

Maybe you want something different this year. You're tired of the same thing every year. Then here are some ideas for decorating your tree in a different way:

1. Decorate with angels or other themes

This is a really popular way to decorate your tree. The usual theme for this is cherubs. You'll find many beautiful decorations you can get, not just tree ornaments. You can also get statues and other items to decorate your entire home and stay true the theme you are using.

Other ideas to consider are decorating with a Victorian theme or crochet. With crochet, you can make your own decorations inexpensively, and it's a fun and relaxing thing to do. You can make these decorations quickly, and it only takes a few balls of crochet thread to do it. Choose different colors for a truly decorative tree. A white theme is also beautiful, and you can crochet everything from snow flakes to Santa. Free patterns abound on the internet, and you can download these and print them out to make your decorations.

2. Decorate with a specific color theme

The most popular and traditional colors for Christmas are red, green, gold and silver, but that doesn't mean that you have to decorate your tree this way. One of my favorite colors is blue, and if you get the right shade of blue, the darker blues for your decorations, you can give your decorations a cool effect, and it's beautiful too.

If non traditional colors don't work for you then consider this: decorate with different shades of your primary color. For example, don't just use green. Use dark green, light green, neon green, or kelly green. Just make sure that you compare all the decorations before placing them on your tree or around your home. You still want everything to match, and some shades may not look as good together as others.

3. Decorate your tree to represent your career

This is especially fun if you are a teacher or work in some other career where you work with children. You can even get the children involved in creating and decorating your tree and classroom.

If it's a business environment, then this is a different way to decorate your office and get away from the norm. The benefit here is that it allows you to decorate for more than one holiday, especially if you have those in your office who don't celebrate Christmas. You don't want them to feel left out. Include everyone and give your office environment a different and unique look for the Christmas season.

Decorating for Christmas doesn't have to be the same old mundane decorating. If you have an artist in the family, you can get together and create unique decorations that are only limited by your imagination.
