Survival Guide

Survival Guide puts the complete U.S. Army survival manual, FM 21-76 (June 1992), on your phone. Everything is stored in the app, so it works without a connection: in the backcountry, at sea or wherever you lose signal.

What's inside

• 19 chapters: psychology of survival, survival planning and kits, basic survival medicine, shelters, water procurement, firecraft, food procurement, survival use of plants, poisonous plants, dangerous animals, field-expedient weapons and tools, desert, tropical, cold weather and sea survival, water crossings, direction finding and signaling

• 8 appendices: survival kits, edible and medicinal plants, poisonous plants, dangerous insects and arachnids, venomous snakes and lizards, dangerous fish and mollusks, ropes and knots, and clouds as weather signs

• The manual's illustrations, tables and plant photos

• Pinch to zoom in on text and figures

The content is the U.S. Army field manual FM 21-76, Survival (June 1992), a U.S. government publication in the public domain. You can read the original here:

The Army has since replaced this manual with newer publications, so some advice, especially on medicine, may be out of date.
