Stuttering Therapy and Delayed Auditory Feedback

This application may be used for logotherapy purposes

I added to this application Three Stuttering Therapy tools which are used in Speech Therapy:

1) DAF or Delayed Auditory Feedback

2) Metronome

3) Mirror

In the text bellow, I will be happy to explain how these tools can be used in Stuttering Treatment

1) Delayed Auditory Feedback

According to Researchers in New Orleans ( http://www.stutteringhelp.org/delayedauditoryfeedback ), Delayed Auditory Feedback, ( DAF ) may benefit a subset of the stutterers.

This is the reason why Delayed Auditory Feedback (DAF) is used in Speech Therapy

In my opinion, DAF is a very good tool and it may really help you. What you need to do is to practice at least for 20 minutes per day and you will may see right away that you start to speak better.

In order to practice with Delayed Auditory Feedback please

a) Connect headset to your device.

b) Select delay time in second from 0.25 to 7 seconds. You may need to use delay time of 0.25 from 1 second to work with syllables, 1-2 seconds to work with words. The delay time of 2-7 may be used to practice in telling sentences in real life. Telling a sentence can be much more challenging than pronouncing a word, because when you telling a story, your speech needs to have a correct speed, correct emotional level and last but not least you need to learn to take a breath in a correct moment. For all these 2-7 delay time can be very nice option

c)When the delay time is selected you need to press “Play DAF” You will start to hear your voice with some delay, and it is really useful because you start hearing your voice and improve it on a daily basis. For better result, you need to practice at least for 20 minutes (that is why I added a timer) a day, by reading a book. Maybe it is a good idea to practice while you are playing a game because in this way you can practice expressing correct emotion with a correct tone of voice etc

2) Metronome. The truth is that I have never used Metronome in stuttering treatment, but I heard many people use it with great result, so I added it. According to the instruction I found on the internet, you need to select BPS time for a Metronome and press Start and start pronouncing words or syllables on every beat.

3) Mirroring is also can be used to treat stuttering while you use Metronome or Delayed Auditory Feedback ( or both). In this case, you need just to look at yourself while speaking. It will help you to learn to waive all undesired tension in your neck during your speech.

More detailed information on how to use this device can be found in the application or on this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PqZtkkWt4h0

If this application does not work on your device, please let me know, I will try to fix it for your and for many other people who may use the same device

If you like this app, please leave a review, it helps a lot.
