Storyhood is a picture book (ebook) reader for kids with narration. Storytellers read out picture books in 3 languages - English, Hindi and Tamil. The picture books are chosen from India. It is a companion app for the Book Lovers' Program for Schools (BLPS) - a program designed to get children to love reading from a very early age. The BLPS program has worked with over 50,000 children since 2009 and has helped them pick up the reading habit.

Storyhood is available in 3 modes - Autoplay, Read to Me, and Read Myself.

- Read to Me - Each page of the picture book is read out. Each word is highlighted as it is spoken. This aids emergent readers to make sound-word correlation and pick up reading on their own faster.

- Autoplay - Just like in Read to Me, the picture book is read out. The pages flip automatically as the book proceeds.

- Read Myself - In this mode, the child reads on his own without narration support. This is a great mode for you to read out the story to your children.

Your child will love this app. It is a great substitute for watching videos or playing games. The child has fun and learns to read.

The app allows you to choose between 3 languages - English, Hindi and Tamil - the option is available in the settings option.

Books are carefully chosen for this app. They employ reading strategies to reinforce pre-reading and reading skills. They are set in recognizable Indian environments and are aimed to make reading fun. Strategies include

- rhythm and rhyme

- picture to text correspondence

- easy words

- clear narration

- word to sound correspondence
