Initially, this assembly was founded by Habib Ali Zainal Abidin Assegaf in 2004. Every Kliwon Friday, this assembly holds the reading of the Prophet's birthday. After performing Friday prayers at the residence of Habib Zaenal Abidin, Jalan Toba Pekalongan, Central Java, which is now the headquarters of the Az-Zahir Assembly.
