Shelter helps users manage apps in a separate space when privacy or organization is important. It uses Android’s Work Profile to create an isolated area, so personal data stays outside that space. Additionally, it requires Device Admin permissions, includes no ads or tracking, and the open-source code can be audited or built by users. Before you download Shelter, check your device’s support for Work Profile to avoid setup issues.
Isolated app space
First, Shelter runs selected apps inside the work profile. These apps cannot access data outside that profile. You can install new apps there or clone existing ones.
Dual accounts on one device
Next, Shelter lets you clone supported apps to keep two accounts. You can keep work and personal logins apart without switching devices. Notifications stay organized in the profile you prefer.
Freeze background heavy apps
Then, you can disable apps that consume resources when not needed. Shelter freezes them inside the profile to reduce background activity. Unfreeze when needed to resume normal use.
Requirements and limitations
Finally, Shelter relies on your phone’s Work Profile and needs Device Admin permission. Some vendor or custom ROMs may be incompatible and cause crashes. It is not a full sandbox and cannot bypass system or firmware issues. It cannot create more than one work profile or coexist with other profile managers, so review device support before installing the Shelter APK.
Shelter isolates selected apps, supports dual accounts, and lets you freeze background activity. Confirm ROM compatibility and permissions before setup to reduce risk. For stability and fixes, install the Shelter latest version and follow the on-screen steps during configuration.
