Scheduler

Welcome to our attempt to make life easier. We are releasing this version of the app to show what it can do, and if it has proven utility, we can move forward with some of our planned ideas for improvement; as well as any ideas and suggestions you throw our way based on experience/use.

Are you the person responsible for doing the weekly schedule? If so, we want to try and save you some precious time and energy. Let Scheduler do the heavy lifting, leaving you to do minor adjustments all from the convenience of your mobile device.

How does it work? You enter the information, the app does the schedule. Initial setup requires entering each employee, as well as projected sales for the week and the labor target you are trying to achieve. Once that is complete, each successive week requires minor tweaks.

Scheduler will create a schedule for the week, as well as some basic stats (total scheduled hours, total pay, and labor for each day). This early release will do its best to make a complete schedule, but manual intervention may be necessary. As we fine tune the algorithm and make overall improvements, we hope to decrease the amount of manual intervention required.

How do we plan to make it better? We want to improve the algorithm making each weekly schedule easier to accomplish. A companion app for the workers that would allow them to view the upcoming weekly schedule on their mobile device.

Why do you want this app? If you spend time on a computer each week creating a schedule using spreadsheets or some other software, we created this app with you in mind. We think the ability to create a schedule on your phone and break the tether to a fixed machine would be an invaluable tool.

As this is an early release, issues and errors may arise. We will do our best to fix them as they arise. With your help, by giving us feedback, we can make a tool that will help your productivity and free up time.

Notes:

- A holiday can be declared by touching the (square) day the holiday falls on when viewing a schedule.

- All data appearing on a schedule can be altered by touching that spot on the schedule i.e. name, position, shift, holiday.

- All necessary data must be entered for Scheduler to work correctly. i.e. the app cannot show a stat like labor without a sales target (usually a rolling average based on previous weeks numbers), or a shift cannot be made for a day that doesn't have a shift start and end time entered for a particular employee for each day they should be scheduled.

- If you aren't sure where to start, try the 'Info' section, which will help you get started.

- If you think a clean slate is in order, click 'Clear' from the menu, which will create a fresh schedule from scratch.

- If an employee should get all the hours they ask for, click the 'Guaranteed' check box. This will disregard any constraints.
