Salmo 31

1 In you, Lord, I take refuge; never allow me to be humiliated; deliver me by your righteousness.

2 Incline your ear to me, come and rescue me quickly! Be my rock of refuge, a mighty fortress to save me.

3 Yes, you are my rock and my fortress; for thy name's sake lead me and guide me.

4 Take me out of the trap they set for me, for you are my refuge.

5 Into your hands I commit my spirit; Rescue me, Lord, God of truth.

6 I hate those who cling to worthless idols; I, however, trust in the Lord.

7 I will rejoice with great joy in your love, for you have seen my affliction and known the anguish of my soul.

8 You have not given me into the hands of my enemies; You gave me security and freedom.

9 Mercy, Lord! I'm in despair! Sadness consumes my sight, vigor and appetite.

10 My life is consumed with anguish, and my years with groaning; my affliction exhausts my strength, and my bones weaken.

11 Because of all my adversaries, I am a reproach to my neighbors and an object of fear to my friends; those who see me on the street run away from me.

12 I am forgotten by them as if I were dead; I became like a broken pot.

13 I hear many whispering about me; fear dominates me, because they conspire against me, plotting to take my life.

14 But I trust in you, Lord, and I say: You are my God.

15 My future is in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who persecute me.

16 Make your face shine upon your servant; save me by your loyal love.

17 Do not let me be humiliated, Lord, for I have cried out to you; but let the wicked be humbled, and be silent in Sheol.

18 Let their lying lips be silenced, for with arrogance and contempt they humiliate the righteous.

19 How great is your goodness, which you have reserved for those who fear you, and which, in the sight of men, you bestow on those who take refuge in you!

20 In the shelter of your presence you hide them from the intrigues of men; in your dwelling you protect them from accusing tongues.

21 Blessed be the Lord, for he showed his wonderful love to me when I was in a besieged city.

22 Alarmed, I said: I was excluded from your presence! Yet you heard my pleas when I cried out to you for help.

23 Love the Lord, all you his saints! The Lord preserves the faithful, but the arrogant give what they deserve.

24 Be strong and courageous, all you who hope in the Lord!
